Every year the Cars.com American-Made Index comes out, and we look at the trucks on the list, there’s always a bit of: “Say what?!” The trucks you think would be the most American often end up at the bottom of the list. This year, we’re excited to see that an American truck is back on top, but it’s probably not the one you’d expect. Jeep Gladiator jumps up three spots and knocks the Honda Ridgeline off the top-dog spot, which it had held for the last few years.

Hot on the heels of the Maverick Lobo launch, Ford Motor Co. is now bringing the street truck phenomenon to its full-size truck, as it introduces a F-150 Lobo package for 2025. While you probably won’t take this truck to an autocross, it promises plenty of power and some aggressive styling. Here’s what we know. The video display control module software will be updated by a dealer, or through an over-the-air (OTA) update, free of charge.

And, every year, the criteria get more stringent for vehicles to live up to the new standards. Thus, it should come as no surprise, there are very few pickup trucks that make the cut. In fact, the 2025 safest pickup trucks list consists of just two trucks: The Rivian R1T and the Toyota Tundra. Ouch. How did these two trucks make the list?

I always geek out over the AMI. Thanks to the folks at @carsdotcom for putting in the legwork. And I know it's a lot of legwork. Looking at the trucks: We have a new top dog! Honda Ridgeline loses its most-American truck status. #TruckTalk https://t.co/o8NB4i0AVB

This isn't everything I expected, but it's a step in the right direction. #TruckTalk https://t.co/Jeeu4R810M

My first look at the Scout Traveler. I know this is just a concept, but it’s production intended. 🤞🤞 that many of these details make it. Can’t wait to drive it! #mama25sr #cardujour #scouttraveler https://t.co/nrCS01RmtM
