A police-involved shooting at Westminster at Lake Ridge has apparently left one person dead and a 93-year-old woman with gunshot and stab wounds. Prince William County police were called to Westminster, located at 12191 Clipper Drive in Lake Ridge, at about 10 a.m. in response to a person attempting to commit suicide with a knife by stabbing himself, according to police radio traffic.

The Town of Dumfries Police Department is leading an effort to gather donations of gift cards, cash, clothing and other items for three families who were displaced by a house fire earlier this week. The fire happened during the afternoon of Monday, April 21 at a home in the 17000 block of Washington Street. The fire resulted from a spark that ignited clothes in a dryer vent, according to Prince William Assistant Fire Chief Matt Smolsky.

Manassas Mall, which opened in the early 1970s, is showing its age. But a new development is designed to give it new life. The mall’s owner is pitching a major redevelopment that could add up to 1,041 new apartments and town-center-style shops and restaurants along the mall’s rear perimeter, a new vision for the property after more than 50 years as a traditional mall. Lionheart Capital, based in Miami, bought the mall in 2020 for $41 million.
