Why I make it a point to learn local swear words when traveling. There are a thousand reasons why exploring the world outside our neighborhood is good for us. Travel opens up our ideas about people and culture and challenges our thinking about norms. Some travel takeaways are tangible and intentional, like that snow globe souvenir you love, even though it’s a little bit cheesy. Other takeaways, like smells and words, are harder to define and are often unexpected and delightfully random.

I'm from San Antonio, where it snows about once every five years. To say I'm not used to the cold is an understatement. I went to British Columbia's Cariboo Chilcotin Coast in February and experienced subzero temperatures. The cold weather in BC was like nothing I'd experienced before. This wild, beautiful region's cold winters are mainly due to its inland location. There's no moderating influence from the ocean, and the cold air from the Arctic pushes down, resulting in frigid temps.

Oh @Delta I was supposed to be home seven hours ago. Now you pull “no flight attendants” out of your bag of tricks? Terrible.
My @Delta flight from MIA to ATL was supposed to take off almost seven hours ago. I have been in thr airport for almost 8 hrs. Just boarded the place for the second time almost an hour ago after being told to deplane at the last minute. HOW is @Delta still loading bags. How?
