As we head into summer, it’s time to be more relaxed about entertaining and cooking. This week’s recipe is a variation of an all-time favourite pasta dish that I often make Friday nights when I want something quick and easy. It also takes advantage of asparagus season right now and what’s so great about it is the asparagus gets tossed into the pot of pasta during the last few minutes of cooking. If you like shrimp, you can add a handful of them as well.

As we head into warmer weather, salads are top of mind in my kitchen. I can’t wait to use the abundance of local produce that will appear on market stands from late spring through fall. While I enjoy a variety of leafy salads just about every day, I also welcome the chance to make more substantial versions. I find cabbage a fantastic base and there are so many varieties to choose from. The Asian chopped salad recipe below features napa cabbage and red cabbage. You can also consider using Savoy.
