A few lucky Central Texans were able to see a few drops of rain fall from the sky Labor Day, but we were all unlucky in the temperature department as we had another round of triple digit heat. We are now at 6 days in a row of 100°+ temperatures and have officially hit the triple digit mark for the 60th time this year. We’re unfortunately forecasting triple digit heat to continue right through the weekend and we’re even expecting record breaking heat at that.

After a pleasant start to Labor Day Weekend Saturday morning, the heat cranks back up for the afternoon. Expect lots of sunshine today and we’ll have that dry weather continue too. If you’re heading out to McLane Stadium to watch the Baylor Bears this evening, it’s going to be toasty. Highs today are like what we saw the past few days and range from the upper 90s to low 100s across Central Texas..

September 1st marked the start of Meteorological fall, but unfortunately it didn’t feel like it one bit. The high hit 100° Friday afternoon - Which extends our streak to 3 days and brings the total of 100° days up to 57 for the year. For Labor Day weekend we’re expecting more of the same hot and dry conditions. Now Labor Day marks the unofficial end to summer and the weather is looking to corporate for any last minute summer activities as we’ll continue to feel that summer warmth.

Finally some rain!! It sure was a nice treat across Central Texas after an extremely long stretch without any rainfall. Our streak of 56 days without any rain and our 71 day streak without measurable rainfall finally came to a close Sunday. Unfortunately, after those rain chances yesterday, the faucet looks to shut off for most of us the rest of the week.

We’ve been dealing with record-breaking and downright brutal heat across Central Texas these past few days. Record highs were broken on Thursday, Friday, and again on Saturday. Saturday’s official high was 107° which breaks the old record high of 105° set back in 2011. We have another day of scorching hot temperatures today, but there is a change heading our way too. Before the change arrives, an Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect until 9PM.
