I’m glad I held off on buying an EV because I think the industry in the U.S. and Canada might crater as the U.S. renews its focus on oil and gas under its incoming federal government. I think it might be considered “woke” to own an EV in the new regime. I can even see EV owners facing discrimination and being targeted by bullies. So much for efforts to limit the effects of climate change — if you even believe it is happening. Apparently, a lot of people don’t.

Americans chose a convicted felon to be president. A criminal facing even more charges. It’s still sinking in. Canada must seem like easy pickings for anyone seeking to undermine its democracy. Aside from the usual suspect nations, it seems almost any group with an agenda can sow chaos here. Exhibit A: The convoy protests that occupied Ottawa, the nation’s capital, and held it captive as well as border crossings in Ontario and Alberta for more than month in 2022.
