On Wednesday, the new McNeese State basketball coach signed his fourth former 4-star recruit from the transfer portal. Carl Cherenfant, a 6-foot-5, 195-pound swingman, becomes the newest Cowboy to join a growing roster. Cherenfant played last season at New Mexico State, getting in 20 games and starting five.

Published 9:21 am Wednesday, April 16, 2025 BATON ROUGE – The McNeese State winning streak came to a screeching halt here Tuesday night in Alex Box Stadium. Now the Cowboys have to get back to work. Eighth-ranked LSU ended the nation’s longest win streak at 12 while winning their 18th straight at home with a 10-3 win over McNeese. The Cowboys’ turnaround is quick now. They open a 3-game Southland Conference series Thursday against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at Joe Miller Ballpark.

The longest win streak in McNeese history came to an close here Tuesday night in Alex Box Stadium. Eighth-ranked LSU, smarting from three straight losses last weekend at Auburn, took out its frustrations on the Cowboys in a midweek battle. Using a 3-run first to take control, the Tigers (32-6) rolled to an easy 10-3 victory over McNeese, which lost for the first time in 13 games.

Joe Dumars, the Cowboy legend who won two NBA championships as a player for the Detroit Pistons and another while the team’s top executive, appears headed to New Orleans. According to reports, Dumars is in deep talks with the Pelicans to run the NBA team’s basketball operations.

Published 5:33 pm Monday, April 14, 2025 Larry Johnson made it official Monday by signing to transfer from Creighton to McNeese State. Johnson is the third former 4-star recruit to join the Cowboys since Bill Armstrong took over as head coach from Will Wade at the end of last season. Johnson is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound redshirt freshman with four years of eligibility remaining.
