Da'Ron Barksdale would very likely admit that Pitt is where he always wanted to be. The 5-10 and 175-pound defensive back out of nearby Steel Valley High School has been on the program's radar for a long time, and the feelings were reciprocated on his end. Barksdale was offered after a stellar freshman season back in the spring of 2023, and he immediately became a fixture at numerous Pitt games and practices ever since.

Pitt landed a new commitment in the class of 2026 on Sunday evening. It was not necessarily who many expected the new commitment to be, but he is hardly a new name to the mix. Da'Ron Barksdale, a 5-10 and 175-pound defensive back from Steel Valley High School, announced his commitment to Pitt moments ago on social media wrapping up a surprise recruitment in many ways. The WPIAL star has long been a target of the Pitt program.
