Reflections from the Relaxation Station, where the beer is always cold and the climate controlled, though somewhat heated at times. Now that the Dodgers have decided to take the bandage off Shohei Ohtani’s right arm, adding yet another dimension to the talent of the planet’s best player, you would think his days as a base-stealer are about over. The numbers, so far, at least indicate as much as the Dodgers prepare to add Ohtani to their starting rotation.

Spring training observations, mostly from afar (the couch), with a 10-day trip to Sarasota, five O’s games (two good, three indifferent), mixed into the equation:At first glance, the American League East appears wide open with no clear favorite and more questions than answers. It was billed as a dream matchup that had a Hollywood ending, but it didn’t quite work out that way. In reality, the 2024 World Series turned into a nightmare for script writers working on the highlight film. They can start and end with Freddie Freeman and skip a lot of what went on in between. This probably isn’t the best time to bring it up, but I thought I’d share a dream I had recently. It involved a 295-495-695 World Series between the Orioles and Nationals! Before anybody goes all ballistic about that ever happening, don’t go rushing to judgment. It’s not as farfetched as you might think — and going on past experiences, it’s cool just thinking about how much fun it would be.
