HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Sinners reunites Michael B. Jordan and Ryan Coogler, and it is a twisty, southern gothic thriller/horror with deep characters and a surprising supernatural turn that works best if you don’t know what’s coming. Ryan Coogler, who first worked with Michael B. Jordan on Fruitvale Station (2013) before helming the Black Panther series, writes and directs Sinners.

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Drop is the new thriller from Blumhouse, and the movie is competently executed, capitalizing on the claustrophobia of its promising premise. Directed by Christopher Landon, Meghann Fahy stars as a widow who goes on her first blind date in years. Brandon Sklenar plays the man she meets in a swanky rooftop restaurant. The date is going well until she receives menacing AirDrops on her phone.

The Amateur pitches itself as a twist on spy movies by centering the action on a nerdy CIA analyst rather than a super spy like James Bond or Jason Bourne, but the plot and structure of the film fall into well-worn tropes. Directed by James Hawes, The Amateur stars Rami Malek as CIA cryptologist who seeks revenge after his wife (Rachel Brosnahan) has been killed. Laurence Fishburne costars as a CIA operative who is initially tasked with training Malek’s character.

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A Minecraft Movie is a high-energy, loud family film, but because it’s so concentrated on importing all the lore from the video game into the film, audiences not familiar with the source material will likely be unable to follow along. Based on the video game originally released in 2009, A Minecraft Movie is directed by Jared Hess, and it stars Jason Momoa and Jack Black. Sebastian Hansen and Emma Myers play the film’s two young protagonists.

William Hurt was my favorite actor. He could turn a single moment into a whole story, made his scene partner the star, made human connection the center of his art. RIP. You were an inspiration, and I’ll miss all you could give and treasure what you gave. https://t.co/dZ6qgEuQrR

WILD ROSE (2019):⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: Jessie Buckley’s performance and her brilliant musical numbers elevate a cliché story that turns in predictable directions; somehow she’s able to imbue the film with a fresh energy that makes Rose-Lynn likeable for her flaws.
