Viking Yachts Hosts Key West Challenge

While built in New Jersey, the Viking sportfishing yachts are known the world over as top of the class. And from April 9-13, the first-class Viking Key West Challenge (VKWC) featured 50 boats and over 500 guests aboard those Jersey-built Vikings. Anglers released 168 sailfish over the two days of fishing with the weigh station thumping with tuna, cobia, dolphin, kingfish and the tournament’s first-ever pompano brought to the scales.

The 43rd Annual Karl J. Boehret Surf Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 10 in Sea Isle City. Presented by Delaware Valley Surf Anglers this ASAC sanctioned event is open to teams and individuals. Registration for the tournament is at the Sea Isle Community Center from 5:30 a.m. until 7 a.m. Beach buggy permits are waived for the day.

Applications for individuals and party/charter boats who wish to participate in New Jersey’s Striped Bass Bonus Program (SBBP) are now being accepted through October 31, 2025. Effective May 15, 2025, the SBBP regulations for permit holders is one striped bass from 24 inches to less than 28 inches. New Jersey is allocated a commercial harvest quota of striped bass under the Striped Bass Interstate Fisheries Management Plan as administered by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC).
NJ’s Summer Flounder Season Reopens Sunday Alongside NY

New Jersey’s recreational fluke season will run from May 4 through September 25 with a three fish bag and 18-inch minimum size limit. The state sill once again have separate summer flounder regulations in two special management zones, one being a 17-inch minimum and three fish bag west of COLREGS on Delaware Bay, as well as a 16-inch minimum size and two per angler limit at Island Beach State Park for surfcasters.
