Control Station Inc. announced Mar. 12 that it’s acquired and assimilated its Ireland-based joint venture and distribution partner. Founded in 2016 to support multinational process manufacturers, Control Station Ltd. previously strengthened its parent company’s position in the Europe, Middle East and Asia (EMEA) region and globally. Reconfigured and renamed Control Station Technologies Ltd., the new entity operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Control Station.

Following a comprehensive assessment, Hexagon AB reported Mar. 4 that its board has directed management to separate its asset lifecycle intelligence (ALI) division and related businesses, known as NewCo, by preparing for a previously announced “Lex Asea distribution” or spinoff to its shareholders. The board plans to propose the distribution and listing of NewCo’s shares at a meeting in early 2026 if circumstances are deemed right.

As difficult as it is to develop code for today’s digital and virtual process controls, I’m told it was even harder to program and maintain the dedicated PLCs and DCSs of the past. Either way, it’s typically too costly and time-consuming for even the largest end-users to roll their own process controls, so they relied on suppliers for decades. Even the two exceptions I know about tend to prove this rule.
