Rocco Awad knew that he needed do to more for his game. The Belle River basketball product was a standout player at St. Anne high school and was named WECSSAA’s Tier I Mr. Basketball in 2023, but wasn’t sure that would be enough to eventually help him reach his goal. In order to accomplish that, the six-foot-one, 185-pound guard felt he needed bigger challenges. So, he headed north to play for the London Basketball Academy (LBA) prep team for two seasons.

Pick a day of the week and the Windsor Spitfires have you covered. The Ontario Hockey League released its 2025-26 schedule and the Spitfires will play at least one home game on every day of the week over the team’s 34-game home schedule for the regular season at the WFCU Centre. It starts with the home opener on Sept. 20, which is the first of five Saturday home games. As usual, the club plays the majority of its games on Thursdays with a dozen slated.

Once again, the Windsor Spitfires will hit the road before coming home. The Ontario Hockey League released home-opening dates for the 2025-26 season and for the third year in a row the Spitfires will open the season on the road. Windsor will begin the season on Sept. 19 in Sarnia against the West Division-rival Sting with a 7:05 p.m. Then, for the fourth season in a row, the Spitfires will open the home portion of the schedule on a Saturday with a Sept.

It was a long road to the podium for the St. Anne Saints. What turned into a wild eight-day journey for the Saints finally ended with a bronze-medal finish after a 7-2 win over the Toronto Upper Canada College Blues on Wednesday at the OFSAA baseball Final Four in London. It started on June 4 at the OFSAA West Regional in Windsor where back-to-back wins had the second-seeded Saints set to face the top-seeded Toronto Bishop Allen with the winner gaining the top seed to the Final Four.
