After a couple weeks of silence, Syracuse announced yet another new addition to their basketball program with Tyler Betsey committing to the squad. Betsey, a 6’8” forward who was a top-60 recruit coming out of high school, entered Cincinnati with a reputation as a smooth shooter and good athlete who needed to continue developing his game. He played in 34 of 35 games for the Bearcats as a freshman, posting modest stats of 3.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 11.2 minutes per game.

After ten days of peace and quiet, Syracuse reached back into the transfer portal to bring in a fifth new face into the program. This time, it was Bryce Zephir, who has spent time at a couple different junior colleges, as well as two seasons (one redshirt) at North Texas and last season at Montana State. Syracuse kept going in the transfer portal, landing their fourth overall commitment and second from conference mate Georgia Tech. This time, the Orange landed 6’9” forward Ibrahim Souare, who went from the end of the Yellow Jackets’ rotation to the starting lineup as a redshirt freshman this past season. How does Souare fit in with the new-look Syracuse roster? Souare is a much smaller piece of SU’s puzzle than his high school and collegiate teammate, Nait George, who the Orange landed on Friday.

Once again, Syracuse has pulled a player out of the transfer portal, landing their starting point guard from conference rival Georgia Tech in Naithan George. The Toronto native had a pretty good trip to the JMA Wireless Dome this past season, posting 13 points, five assists, and five rebounds in a loss to the Orange on January 7. Ranked as a top-30 transfer by multiple outlets, including #15 by ESPN, the Orange are getting one of the better available point guards in the portal.
