ROCKTON — Monday’s showdown between Hononegah and Freeport didn’t quite live up to the hype of two NIC-10 squads at the top of the standings vying for a conference titleThat’s perfectly fine by Indians’ junior Parker Danielson, who helped his squad blow out the Pretzels 11-3 on a warm and sunny afternoon at Weber Field to move into a tie with Freeport for first place with a NIC-10 record of 11-2. kAm“(6 H6C6 6I4:E65 4@>:?8 :?[” D2:5 s2?:6=D@?[ H9@ E9C6H 2 4@>A=6E6 82>6 @?

BELOIT — The Beloit Sky Carp sure would have loved to give all the moms in attendance a victory in honor of Mother’s Day, but the Cedar Rapids Kernels and its bats had other plans. BELOIT — There are several battles that will be worth keeping a close eye on at this year’s edition of the Beloit Daily News Invitational. Parkview's Mike Williams has been getting hot and will try to unseat top-seeded Deaken Krause of Beloit Turner in the shot put.

BELOIT — Beloit Sky Carp reliever Jack Sellinger understands the pitfalls of coming out of the bullpen. If a thrower comes in and throws a clean inning or two, he’s just doing his job. If that pitcher should give up a few hits or, even worse, a couple of runs? They are public enemy No. 1. kAmqFE $6==:?86C 36=:6G6D E92E 96 2?5 9:D 3F==A6? >2E6D 2C6 >@C6 E92?
