    A longstanding dream has come to fruition as VFW Post 2771 announced the establishment of a nursing scholarship at Lenoir Community College, thanks to the dedication and efforts of its members. This scholarship, which has been years in the making, is set to support aspiring nurses in Lenoir County and across North Carolina. The origin of the scholarship dates back more than 15 years when Richard Wagner, father of retired teacher and coach Bonnie Wagner, made a significant donation.

Jim Pillen was among the many students and members of the Lincoln community that spent their Saturday morning walking from the Nebraska Union to the State Capitol and back in an effort to raise awareness about sex trafficking in Nebraska. Walk for Freedom is an annual event organized by the I’ve Got A Name foundation. Their mission is to put an end to sex trafficking in Nebraska by generating awareness of the problem and taking action against it, according to their website.

    With many students on the hunt for off-campus housing in the upcoming semester, The Daily Nebraskan asked what students should watch out for when looking for an off-campus residence. Lucas Novotny, executive director of Housing and Dining Services at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, offered one piece of advice he gives students looking to move off campus. “Make it a point to visit properties in person to get a firsthand look at their condition and suitability for your needs,” Novotny said.
