Abstract:The migration of light non-aqueous phase liquids (LNAPLs) trapped in porous media is a complex phenomenon. Groundwater table fluctuation can not only affect contaminant migration but also redox conditions, bacterial communities, and contaminant degradation. Understanding LNAPLs’ (e.g., benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX)) behavior within porous media is critical for the high efficiency of most in situ remediation systems.
