1. IntroductionThe Fifth Assessment Report of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) pointed out that the global climate system has experienced substantial transformations over the past century, marked by a notable rise in global temperatures, and it is expected that the frequency of adverse weather events on a global scale will escalate rapidly and the range of their impacts will tend to widen in the 21st century [1,2].
