Wage theft runs rampant because the state agency tasked with enforcing the Labor Law doesn’t have the capacity to address violations. That’s why we are advocating for the EmPIRE Worker Protection Act to expand public enforcement.

This represents a complete failure to prepare our students for the most basic of life skills, in part due to the continued use of flawed literacy instruction methods. New York’s proficient reading rates of 30% are even worse than the national average.
