Ben Longrigg died at the age of 92 (Contributed)Tributes have been paid following the death of Ben Longrigg, founder and owner of Winners 2000 gym. Ben died just weeks after his 92nd birthday at his home in Stokeinteignhead. A highly intelligent and successful businessman, Ben attended Cambridge University and worked in senior management roles in London before buying a small business in Torquay, which he grew into the well-known Torex Hire.

The anonymous Ghost TQ14, also known as Teignmouth Ghost, is behind the brightly coloured, pixelated artistry adorning the walls of various buildings in the town. Ghost stared in the first lockdown when he was living alone and had no internet connection. ‘I had a stockpile of wood, paint and craft stuff.

Students will lock their mobile phones in the Yondr pouch when they arrive at school (Yondr)A school in Teignmouth is to ban mobile phones in a bid to improve behaviour and academic results. From September 2025, students at Teignmouth Community School (TCS) will either need to leave their mobile phones at home or lock their devices in a special mobile phone pouch during the school day. ‘When smartphones are removed from the school day, children do better,’ said TCS head Rachel Wickham.

Tim Cox, a watersports instructor from Teignmouth, is halfway through his epic row from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Nelson’s Dockyard in Antigua with friend Andy Purvis as team Oar Mighty Mates 2C.
