Korea has suffered a trade deficit with its biggest market China this year for the first time in 31 years. According to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Wednesday, Korea's exports to China totaled $114 billion in the first 11 months of this year, while imports amounted to $132 billion, resulting in an $18 billion deficit. The monthly trade balance began with a $3.9 billion deficit in January and stayed in the red since.

The prices of gasoline and diesel have dropped for the ninth consecutive week at Korea's gas stations. According to Korea National Oil Corporation on Sunday, gasoline prices fell W14.7 to W1,626.6 per liter in the first week of December while diesel fell W21.2 to W1,563.8 (US$1=W1,307).

Gasoline and diesel prices have been falling for eight weeks at Korea's filling stations. According to Korea National Oil Corporation on Sunday, gasoline prices fell by W18.9 nationwide in the last week of November, reaching W1,641.2 per liter (US$1=W1,306). Nine out of 10 small and medium-sized enterprises that will be covered by tougher industrial accident laws from next year are pleading for a longer grace period.
