Emirates is undertaking perhaps the most significant aircraft refurbishment project in the history of aviation. Over the next few years, the carrier will complete nose-to-tail refreshes on over 200 widebody aircraft, including the largest passenger jet, the Airbus A380. The investment required runs to an eye-watering $5 billion. Refitting aircraft this large is never an easy task. When you’re trying to do it in a way that doesn’t interfere with a very busy flying schedule, it becomes even trickier.

It’s official: On May 21, 2025, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth accepted a Boeing 747-8 private jet, gifted by the state of Qatar, to serve as Trump’s Air Force One. The lavishly outfitted jumbo jet has been used by Qatari royalty and high-ranking politicians in the past, and is worth an estimated $400 million. But a beautiful jet does not Air Force One make, and the cost of bringing it up to standard is likely to vastly eclipse the price tag of the plane.

The A-10 Warthog, officially the Thunderbolt II, is an aircraft unlike any other in the US Air Force fleet. With its iconic GAU-8 cannon, rugged airframe, and unmatched record in close air support (CAS), it has become a legend among ground troops and a symbol of battlefield toughness. But now, the A-10 era is coming to an end. The USAF began retiring the fleet in 2023, with full withdrawal expected by the early 2030s.

In terms of absolute weapons payload, the Boeing F-15EX Eagle II is the undisputed king of heavily armed fighter jets.

In the wake of extensive delays and budget overruns for the building of two new ‘Air Force One’ 747-8s, the US Department of Defense is preparing to take delivery of a lavishly appointed Boeing 747-8 private jet as a stopgap. The Boeing 747-8KB was delivered to Qatar Amiri Flight in April 2012 with registration A7-HJA.

I am delighted to confirm that the iconic Wetherspoon chicken breast bites are back. Goodness knows what that was all about. On the downside, I just ordered the last portion in the Brit, Plymouth, so don’t rush down. @jdwtweetsuk https://t.co/NIikfmYwJy

It would appear @jdwtweetsuk has hurriedly pulled chicken bites from menu, along with all CB dishes (Korean bowl, boneless basket etc) Via Reddit: Wetherspoons is under investigation by the @foodgov in relation to CBs 😱 Please take a moment to mourn the mighty chicken bite 🫡 https://t.co/t83CBdjoej
