It can feel exceptionally difficult to become the exact parent your child needs, especially when they are struggling. Being a parent often feels like swimming in the wild Pacific Ocean. One moment you're happily jumping over waves, and the next you find yourself holding your breath as a big set of waves crashes over your head. If this analogy feels familiar to you, congratulations! You're probably an excellent parent. Why? Because you're willing to adapt and change to your meet your children's needs.

Five of my six nieces have started college in the last few years and I feel time passing so acutely. It's easy to imagine them as babies, each with their big brown eyes and round cheeks, their dark hair falling across their little foreheads. It's hard to believe they’re all so grown. Yes, it’s trite.

I keep hearing about parents who let their young kids swear, and I'm a little perplexed by it. Often, they are Liberal, compassionate and well-educated. They seem unbothered by the fact that some people might be offended, despite worrying about offending others overall. When my sons were small, I was often approached by other parents about how polite my sons are, as if they're shocked. I finally got up the nerve to ask one of these moms why.

If you’re one of the people who urged me to watch Adolescence, thank you. If you’re my friend Stephanie, who told me every detail of the show after I turned it off just a few minutes in, thank you even more. Without that help, I wouldn’t have gone back to finish it, as the first fifteen minutes were too upsetting to for me to proceed without spoilers. I’m glad I went back after she briefed me. Everything you’ve heard about it is true, the miniseries is fantastic.

One thing I love about old movies is that most of the actors have their original teeth Watch something like Charade or The Four Seasons (1981) or anything before 2010 vs anything with a remotely big budget made in the last 10 years. I'm sick of everyone having identical teeth.

I listened to a parenting expert on a podcast and loved it SO much I wrote an entire article full of his advice. Wow. I was so moved by all of this. https://t.co/Q2mnHM6SO1
