Winter weather gripped North Georgia on Friday, leaving behind snow, ice, and treacherous road conditions. As temperatures continue to plummet overnight, freezing rain and refreeze on roads pose significant hazards heading into the weekend. FOX 5 Storm Team chief meteorologist David Chandler says that freezing temperatures are widespread. "The bulk of the freezing rain we’ve been putting up with has exited our area, moving up I-85 into the upstate of South Carolina," Chandler said.

TGIF! I wish I had better news for the weekend. Here goes: 🔹Today is a "lull" in the unsettled weather. Partly cloudy, warm, and only a stray afternoon shower or storm today 🔹Saturday is a washout. Periods of steady and, at times, heavy rain 🔹Cloudy with occasional showers https://t.co/Nzsb64WRud

Good Thursday morning! Most of today is dry and warmer with periods of sunshine. But stay alert this afternoon/evening. Not everyone will get a storm, but those storms that do develop can produce gusty winds and hail. @GoodDayAtlanta https://t.co/p9QipisMuK

Have your umbrella handy this morning! A shield of rain is moving in from the west to make for a soggy morning. The rain/thunder will become isolated to scattered for the afternoon. An unsettled pattern will be the story for several days to come! @GoodDayAtlanta https://t.co/7lVJUhp0Fo
