SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. — Abington Heights had no momentum after Crestwood’s Gia Caporuscio tied the game with nine seconds left and sent the District 2 Class 2A girls lacrosse championship game to overtime Thursday. So, the undefeated Lady Comets focused on one thing at a time. “(Coach) Becky (Davis) told us right before overtime that the draw was really important and that we had to win it,” Abington Heights’ Allie Rothenberger said.

The Abington Heights School Board unanimously approved a high school girls wrestling team Wednesday night at its monthly meeting. The school had its eye on a program since the PIAA sanctioned the sport two years ago, and the administration feels like now is the right time.
