Sherborne, determined to avenge their 21-0 defeat to Salisbury earlier in the season, delivered a significantly stronger performance to win 24-10, bringing an end to Salisbury's impressive seven-match unbeaten run. Sherborne started the game with confidence, displaying organisation and commitment during the early exchanges.

Salisbury continued their impressive form with a comfortable 37-6 home win over Chippenham's 2nd XV at Castle Road on Saturday, January 4. They extended their unbeaten run to seven league matches. This underlines their suitability for their recent selection for Dorset & Wiltshire’s Tribute Team of the Month in December. Salisbury's pack asserted dominance early and had a much stronger scrummage. Just three minutes in the hosts kicked ahead and had Chippenham under extreme pressure at a ruck.

4 1/1 Salisbury secured their third consecutive league victory on Saturday with a hard-fought 13–5 win against Combe Down at Castle Road. The match was physical, with a significantly altered Salisbury XV struggling at times to gain field position and sustain possession. Despite their position at the bottom of Counties 1 Southern South, Combe Down proved themselves to be a determined and capable side.

3 1/1 Salisbury welcomed old friends Swanage & Wareham to Castle Road on Saturday for a mid-table clash which was preceded by a very dignified act of remembrance immediately before kick-off. Neither side were able to fully gain control during the match but Salisbury did achieve greater territorial advantage and will have been pleased to put the disappointment of heavy away defeat to Dorchester behind them with a 21-10 home win over Swans.

4 1/1 Salisbury travelled to Dorchester on Saturday keen to put a home defeat to Walcot behind them, but came up short of a victory. After a bright start in which Salisbury looked the much the better side with ball in hand, but Dorchester’s dominant scrum helped them control much of the afternoon to record a 44 – 22 win. From the start Salisbury wanted to move possession and inject pace whenever possible.

A much-changed Salisbury XV hosted second-place Walcot at Castle Road on Saturday in the sixth fixture of their league campaign. Walcot had the better of the early exchanges and with good field position elected to run a freekick.

2 1/1 Salisbury RFC sealed a bonus point away win with a midfield wonder-break in a tight away tie at Chippenham. Salisbury’s 1st XV travelled to Chippenham on Saturday to play the fourth fixture of their Counties 1 Tribute Southern South league campaign. Pleasant autumn weather and a perfect synthetic playing surface helped create a lively encounter in which both teams were prepared to play with ball in hand.

Salisbury and Andover rugby clubs assembled large senior men’s squads at Castle Road for an entertaining pre-season friendly on Thursday evening. Salisbury can take great encouragement from both the size of the squad and a spirited performance in advance of their Counties 1 Southern South league campaign. Given this was a pre-season friendly the result was less important than the overall performance. The match was played in quarters, enabling both teams to rotate numerous players.
