#creditchat A8: Don't fear the credit. Instead learn about it, and get the facts about how credit benefits you. Spend responsibly and pay off your card bills each month to build your credit in a way that benefits you, not harm you.

#creditchat A6: Even if you are a points collector like me, only spend what you can pay off. Also, limit your credit applications. Ask: "Why do I need this card?" before hitting the submit application button.

#creditchat A5: Your credit card may offer "credit monitoring," but make sure you know what it is. Some offer VantageScore, which is a different measurement than your FICO score. Be sure to know where all your scores stand.

#creditchat A3: One of my favorites is when shopping for a big purchase (like a car or home), multiple credit checks will drag your score down. But if you get them all within a short time period as you research, they count as one hit - keeping your credit score intact!
