The Austrian star who became a fan favourite during his two stints at Maranello was speaking for the first time about his old team’s prospects for the new F1 season and his comments are likely to embolden an increasingly confident tifosi as the dream team partnership of Charles Leclerc and Hamilton becomes a reality ahead of the first grand prix in March.

Visitors to Ferrari’s famous HQ in Maranello have in recent weeks noticed an addition to the famous campus. It is a huge 42,500 square metre glass and steel factory building on the northern edge of the existing site which was unveiled over the summer. Ferrari refers to it as the E-building and it represents the biggest expansion of the marque’s factory for decades.

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) met this week and voted to cut rates by a half-percent, bringing its policy range to 4.75 percent to 5 percent. This decision comes after committee members had elected to hold rates steady at the preceding eight meetings after their hiking cycle concluded in July 2023. This vote also marks the first time in recent periods that a voting committee member dissented from the popular vote.

The British Grand Prix will stay on the F1 calendar for at least another ten years, and Silverstone will remain its home after striking a ten-year extension to its current contract. With its current deal expiring this year, the new agreement gives the British Racing Drivers’ Club, which owns the circuit, more certainty than at any time in Silverstone’s history.

So perhaps Komatsu can ‘do a Stella’ and turn things around to lift Haas from its unhappy current status. But he’ll know he has a hell of a job on his hands to get anywhere close to a McLaren-style revival. Haas is unique on the F1 grid in the way it operates and relies so heavily on Ferrari. That was Steiner’s doing of course, but recently and increasingly frustrations at the limitations the structure has imposed have bubbled over – to what was clearly an untenable point.
