Since this column was last published, yet another 2025 MLB closer has lost their job and another has been placed on the IL again. Plus, we’ve been watching last season’s saves leader implode. The past week’s 2025 MLB closer-related news hasn’t been all bad, though. We’ve got a lot more ground to cover this week and several late-inning high-leverage relievers that we need to talk about. Make sure to check out our 2025 Fantasy Baseball Closer Grid  on a regular basis.

Other than the New York Yankees having to shake up their bullpen depth chart due to an injury, fantasy baseball managers generally got a break from the usual mayhem that goes hand in hand with managing closers and late-inning high-leverage relievers. The 2025 MLB closer position has been full of surprises this season. Since our last column, we saw Tampa Bay Rays reliever Mason Montgomery and Chicago Cubs reliever Drew Pomeranz pick up their first saves of the season. Minnesota Twins reliever Danny Coulombe also recorded a rare save. We highlighted Montgomery in an earlier column this season, and while he’s had his ups and downs, he does have six holds.
