The Patriots have filled their three coordinator posts under new head coach Mike Vrabel. Vrabel is hiring Lions defensive line coach Terrell Williams to be the Patriots’ defensive coordinator, ESPN first reported Wednesday. Vrabel had already elected to keep incumbent special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer and hired offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels on Tuesday. Williams, 50, spent six seasons on the Titans’ staff while Vrabel was head coach.

SUNRISE, Fla. — David Pastrnak scored a power-play goal with 2 seconds left in overtime and the Boston Bruins snapped a six-game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers on Saturday. It was the second goal of the day for Pastrnak, who has six in his last five games. He also had an assist. Morgan Geekie also had a goal and assist, and Jeremy Swayman stopped 39 shots for the Bruins, who entered having scoring one goal or fewer in four of their past six games.

DURHAM, N.C. — Cooper Flagg scored an Atlantic Coast Conference freshman record 42 points to help No. 4 Duke hold off Notre Dame 86-78 on Saturday and stay unbeaten in conference play. The 6-foot-9 preseason Associated Press All-American made 11 of 14 shots, 4 of 6 from 3-point range, and 16 of 17 foul shots. He also had seven assists and six rebounds, turning in an all-around floor game that had him single-handedly wearing down the Notre Dame defense.

BOSTON — At the micro level, the Boston Bruins are in the midst of a five-game losing streak. At the macro level, they’re set up to have a real battle in the second half to make the playoffs. They returned home on Tuesday night to face the defending Western Conference champions featuring the best player it the world. Coming off a day off on Monday, they had every reason to be motivated, every reason to be energetic.

JD Davison scored 27 points, and Anton Watson and Donald Carey Jr. each posted career highs with 25 and 23 points, respectively, as the Maine Celtics ended a three-game losing streak Saturday with a 116-93 win over the Greensboro Swarm at the Expo. Maine shot 50% from 3-point range (17 of 34). Watson was 5 of 9 from distance and 9 of 14 overall. Carey also was 9 of 14 from the field. Tristan Enaruna contributed 12 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Eric Gaines scored a career-high 10 points.

Caroline Rousseau scored four times and Lucy Johnson added a hat trick for Cheverus/Windham/Medomak in a 9-1 win Wednesday over Portland/Cape Elizabeth/Deering/South Portland/Waynflete at Troubh Ice Arena in Portland. Anna Bowie chipped in with two goals and an assist. Kaylee Radford, Grace Townsend and Zoey Radford each had two assists. Alexis Turner scored late in the second period for the Portland co-op team, which got 25 saves from Mya Clark.

BASKETBALLJD Davison scored a career-high 46 points Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Maine Celtics (4-6) from falling 107-103 to the College Park Skyhawks (7-3) in an NBA G League game at College Park, Georgia. Davison shot 16 of 26 from the field, including 4 of 7 on 3-pointers, to become the first Maine player to top 40 points since March 2, 2023, when Luke Samanic had 43 against the South Bay Lakers.
