Alexandria Police photo ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (KFGO) – Alexandria Police are asking for the public’s help identifying and locating a stabbing suspect. Police say the suspect stabbed another person at Walmart around 9 a.m. Saturday. The victim was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The suspect fled before officers arrived. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact Alexandria Police at (320) 763-6631.

(KFGO) – The North Dakota Sheriff’s and Deputies Association says claims by the federal government that several North Dakota Counties are actively defying federal immigration laws are completely unfounded. Thursday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem released a list of counties and cities nationwide that she says are sanctuary communities that do not cooperate with immigration authorities.

HANKINSON, N.D. (KFGO) – A former Hankinson high school teacher has been charged for allegedly possessing child sex abuse materials and luring minors. Zachary Nelson, 31, resigned in March. He was charged Wednesday in Richland County.

FARGO (KFGO) – Traffic on I-29 and 52nd Ave. S. in Fargo was temporarily diverted Thursday afternoon after a person climbed on the outside of the outside of the pedestrian safety fence. Fargo Police and the North Dakota Highway Patrol responded around 5 p.m. after a person was seen climbing on top of the pedestrian cage on the north side of the 52nd Ave. bridge over I-29. Northbound I-29 was closed and traffic was forced to exit onto 52nd Ave. Westbound traffic on 52nd Ave.

CROSBY, N.D. (KFGO) – The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services says a case of measles has been confirmed in Burke County, making it the fourth county in the state with a confirmed case. The affected person traveled frequently to Williams County before the illness. Williams county was the first to report measles in the state, and the health department has confirmed community spread there.

FARGO (KFGO) – A Fargo man has been sentenced for shooting and killing another man. Tyreik Taylor-Roberts was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to manslaughter. A murder charge was dropped. Last September, Taylor-Roberts and 25-year-old Jalab Moses got into an argument in an apartment complex parking lot south of NDSU. Taylor-Roberts shot Moses in the chest. He claimed it was self-defense. Taylor-Roberts will have to serve 5 years of probation after his release.

BISMARCK (North Dakota Monitor) – In the collection of the North Dakota Heritage Center, rows of soldiers’ uniforms, military equipment and personal items tell the stories of service members. The State Historical Society of North Dakota has about 10,000 military items, but only about 5% is displayed at one time. MOORHEAD (MPR) – The White Earth Nation made history Saturday with the opening of a cannabis dispensary in Moorhead. The recreational cannabis dispensary is the first-in-the-state to sell marijuana outside of tribal lands. “This has never been done before, being the first to be able to open an off-reservation dispensary, let alone just the first dispensary in the state,” said Zach Wilson, CEO of White Earth’s cannabis business, Waabigwan Mashkiki, which means flower medicine in Ojibway.

LIDGERWOOD, N.D. (KFGO) – No one was injured when a garage caught fire in Lidgerwood, North Dakota Sunday evening. The Richland County Sheriff’s Office says the attached garage caught fire just after 6 p.m. Everyone inside the home was able to get out safely. The Lidgerwood fire department was able to keep the flames from spreading to the house. The cause is under investigation. Lidgerwood Fire, Hankinson Fire, Lidgerwood Ambulance, and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office all responded.
