    Following the submission of a planning application in November 2024, joint venture partners Regal and 4C Group have secured planning approval for a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme at 33–35 Jamestown Road and 211 Arlington Road in Camden Town. The scheme will deliver 178 PBSA bedrooms, 27 affordable homes, and over 3,600 sq ft of commercial space.

    Valeo Management Europe’s purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development on Carrick Street in Glasgow City Centre is set to be approved. Glasgow City Council has ‘minded to grant’ the PBSA scheme which was submitted for planning in December 2024. The £60m scheme will be delivered under the LIV Student brand, providing 531 student beds and a flexible ground-floor commercial unit on a brownfield disused site at Carrick Street within Glasgow’s Broomielaw regeneration area.

    Unite Students has announced the exchange of contracts for the disposal of a portfolio of nine purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) properties, comprising 3,656 beds for £212m (Unite share: £14m) to an affiliate of Lone Star Funds. The disposal portfolio includes assets in Aberdeen, Leicester, Leeds, Nottingham and Sheffield. The portfolio has nomination agreements covering 11% of beds for the 2024/25 academic year (Unite: 57%) and an average age of 19 years (Unite average: 13 years).

    YPP has been given planning permission to build a 60-bedroom purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme on New Walk in Leicester. Brewster Bye Architects designed the conversion of 2A New Walk, a former Job Centre in Leicester, into a PBSA development. The existing four-storey building has been vacant for over two years. All studios consist of an open plan design with private kitchen, study area, bed space, en-suite and living area.

    Urban Centric’s plans for The Wharf – a PBSA scheme in Butetown, Cardiff, are set to be given the go-ahead. The site concerns an undeveloped plot of around 0.3 acres in size, located between Schooner Way and Bute East Dock. Urban Centric purchased the site at The Wharf from Cadwyn Housing Association in 2023 which has now been earmarked for a 158-bedroom PBSA development.
