After nearly six months of increases, the price of eggs declined in March. But that doesn’t make them cheap. The average nationwide price of a dozen eggs decreased by about a quarter in March, according to data from consumer research firm NIQ. But at $6.27 for a dozen, the cost of eggs is still up 75% in the last 12 months, an increase that is greater than any other of the six staple grocery items tracked by NBC News.

Measles is among the most contagious diseases in the world, and case counts in the U.S. are spiking. NBC News is tracking confirmed measles cases across the country with data from state health departments. This data will be updated every Tuesday and Friday. With more than 500 cases, 2025 is already the third-most active year for measles since 2000, the year the U.S. officially eliminated the disease. Most cases this year are in Texas, which accounts for 3 out of 4 reported infections.
