Temperatures today are expected to soar above 90 with the heat index climbing into the triple digits! It’s already a fairly warm start with temperatures and dewpoints well into the 70s. As we head into the afternoon, the thermometer will climb into the mid to upper 90s. We’re a little farther away from record-tying potential today, but not too far away where it’s impossible.

It is already a warm and humid start to the day, but these levels will be building up a lot more throughout the day. Temperatures alone could be flirting with record levels for the first few days of the week. The heat dome is well settled into the Midwest. Temperatures today will be building to the mid 90s by the afternoon and evening. The high today – 96 degrees – could at least tie the record for today set back in 1948.

Did you catch the "Strawberry Moon" this morning?? June's full moon - the Strawberry Moon - peaked this morning, named because it lines up with strawberry season. It actually happened to be reddish this time because it sat a little lower in the sky! 📸: Michael J Shirey https://t.co/mk1VGqG9Yc
