WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court refused Monday to hear a pair of cases from abortion opponents who say laws limiting anti-abortion demonstrations near clinics violate their First Amendment rights. The majority did not explain their reasoning for turning down the appeals, as is typical, but two conservative justices, Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas, disagreed. The cities said the laws were passed to address disturbing behavior from protesters outside of health care clinics.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — USA Swimming named University of Delaware athletic director Chrissi Rawak as its new CEO and president on Wednesday. Rawak fills a role previously held by Tim Hinchey, who left the governing body of one of the biggest Olympic sports shortly after last year’s Paris Games. Rawak was named Athletic Director of the Year in 2024 by a national group of ADs. She spearheaded a $38 million fundraising campaign for the construction of a new athletic department facility.

A year and a half after Wisconsin lawmakers earmarked $125 million to clean up toxic “forever chemicals” known as PFAS, the funds have yet to flow to contaminated communities. That’s due to a legal and philosophical debate over the limits of government power and the potentially harsh consequences of a decades-old environmental law. Lawmakers continue to hash out the rules to guide who would receive the money and, more importantly, the legal risks for entities that request it.
