Monterey Lady Wildcat Haylee Trevethan is preparing for her senior year of girls basketball. Trevethan saw her older brother unable to play basketball two years ago. Trevethan said it was really hard for her to deal with that. Trevethan said she saw the passion and dedication he had for the game. “He loved the sport so much and the sport he loved got taken away from him,” Trevethan said.

Cumberland County Lady Jet Dominica Beal sees life from a whole new perspective. Beal is one of six shooting guards on the Lady Jets roster, the only senior for Cumberland County basketball next season. She averaged a career high in points and rebounds last season. Beal said she wants to improve everywhere, even when she is not on the floor. “I think with me, it’s just being that role player,” Beal said.

Baseball teams across the Upper Cumberland will come together to be a part of a new league this summer. The American Legion league will begin play this month. The league will see kids from multiple different baseball teams in the Upper Cumberland face off against other teams across the state of Tennessee. Jackson County Baseball Head Coach Alex Bray said the league will give kids a chance to increase their travel ball play.

Cookeville Freshman Louis Kim completed his first varsity tennis season last Thursday. Kim became the only individual from Cookeville to qualify for TSSAA Individual Tournaments. He competed in the team state semifinals against Science Hill. Kim said he hopes to get farther next season. “I feel like when I first started, I mean, the levels are beginner,” Kim said. “I kept playing, kept playing, and really just got better and better and better.

Senior Emmy Bragga finished her tennis career at Cookeville High School last Thursday. Bragga finished her season in the regional tournament last month. She ended her season as the Team A singles champion. Bragga said Cookeville Tennis Head Coach Brian Rohr has been a big help throughout her tennis career. “He’s so, like motivating,” Bragga said. “He’s like, if you lose, like okay, like what can you do better?
