INTRODUCTION Agricultural intensification and mechanisation simplify agricultural landscapes to maximise yields and profits. Global trends include enlarged, consolidated crop fields, conversion of natural and semi-natural areas to agricultural areas and specialisation leading to limited crop diversity (Batáry et al., 2020; Foley et al., 2011; White & Roy, 2015).
