According to a resolution from the Washington State House of Representatives, the hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places on Jan. 3.

The U.S. Department of Labor is asking the United States District Court of Western Washington to dismiss a lawsuit. According to the suit, the department is accused of failing to protect Washington farmworkers’ wages their work conditions. The lawsuit was filed by Familias Unidas por la Justicia, which is a farmworker’s union in Skagit County. It challenges the U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wages rules for temporary agricultural workers, known as H-2A workers.

A hearing before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington should help define the future of a legislative district in the Yakima Valley. Supporters say the redrawn map proposals could preserve the Latino vote but opponents say it could dilute the native vote. An evidentiary hearing is scheduled for March 8. It is the latest chapter following the 2022 lawsuit that challenged Washington’s redistricting map to preserve the Latino vote in the Yakima Valley.
