A few months back, I was dazzled by its SUV cousin, the Genesis GV80. Now batting, the G80 sedan, which also manages to dial up the opulence. This one is called the Genesis G80 AWD 3.5T Sport Prestige, which is good because it’s fairly sporty and very prestigious. It’s meant to go up against the likes of the BMW 5-series and the Mercedes-Benz E-class, and it definitely holds its own, and then some.

Practicality, affordability and even luxury can go together. This Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Limited came in what’s called “Electronic Gray” with a “Sage Gray” interior. The interior features seats made of a leather substitute called H-Tex, which feels like the real thing, while probably being much more durable. Interestingly, a bar comes out of the dash to separate the passenger from the shifter and climate controls.

Some cars have a fun factor that just can’t be measured, and the Volkswagen Jetta GLI Autobahn certainly fits the bill. Don’t forget to push the clutch pedal in when you try to start up the turbocharged four-cylinder engine, because this one packs a six-speed manual transmission. It’s a slick and forgiving gearbox that makes this Jetta a blast to drive. Mine was hard to miss in metallic red with optional black wheels.

What happens when you “borrow” some of the DNA of a Land Rover Defender, and maybe mix in a little Cybertruck styling to boot? The result is this boxy and tough-looking Hyundai Santa Fe, which further looks the part in optional matte gray paint. This one is the high-end Calligraphy edition, in hybrid form. Potentially polarizing exterior styling aside, there’s nothing but things to love in the interior.

Acura seems to have found a winning formula with its Type S performance models. In my case, it involves cement gray paint, a very premium interior and horsepower to spare. After driving the TLX Type S sedan last spring, I got a turn in this MDX Type S midsize, three-row SUV. Starting with that interior: It’s simply among the nicest I’ve seen, featuring a sea of cream-colored leather and some black suede inserts.
