RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — We are just a few days away from the start of meteorological winter, which is Dec. 1 until the end of February. If you are a snow lover or a skier, this hasn’t been your time of late. But then again, if you are a snow HATER, you’ve been fairly happy with past few years. Maybe not that cold blast of Christmas 2022, but you haven’t been shoveling the white stuff. In fact, over the last 10 years, we have averaged about 10 inches of snow.

One thing for sure, in my opinion, is that we are going to get more snow that last year’s absolute nothing! In fact, the last exciting snow that we had was back in December of 2018, when 11” of snow fell.

Posted: Sep 22, 2023 / 05:49 PM EDT Updated: Sep 22, 2023 / 05:49 PM EDT (WRIC) — Precipitation and winds from Tropical Storm Ophelia have begun to hit Virginia and the storm is expected to affect the Commonwealth for at least the next 36 hours. As of 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22, the storm was located about 120 miles southeast of the Wilmington, North Carolina area with sustained winds of up to 70 miles per hour.
