Consumer car finance business volumes and value both rose in July, latest figures show. The Finance & Leasing Association (FLA) said that new business volumes grew by 1% to 175,696 cars versus July 2023. Meanwhile, the corresponding value of new business rose by 2% to £3.266m over the same period. Business by value for the new car finance market in July was 5% higher at £1.388m, but business volumes fell by 3% to 48,673 cars.

Perrys Group has posted a pre-tax profit of under £2m for last year – a drop of nearly 50% on 2022. Newly published accounts show that for the year ended December 31, 2023, the Car Dealer Top 100 firm made £1.899m profit before tax. That was 48.2% down on 2022’s £3.664m and continued the decline recorded for that year when its pre-tax profit fell by 69.5% on 2021’s £11.996m.

Glyn Hopkin has made Tim Murphy its chief operating officer for the group. The Car Dealer Top 1oo automotive group boasts some 35 dealerships across London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, representing Nissan, MG, Kia, Renault, Dacia, Alpine and Suzuki. Murphy latterly served as Audi and JLR franchise director at Marshall Motor Group and before that was group operations director and executive board member for the Motorline Group.

Dale Wyatt is to take early retirement from his senior executive role at Suzuki GB next March, it has been announced. The director of automobile for the UK and Ireland will have been in the position for 18 years by then, but said he’d decided the time was right to step down to further concentrate on his health and well-being. Wyatt added that it’ll also mean he can consider potential future business interests in an advisory capacity within the wider industry.

Chorley Group is celebrating two decades of supplying Nissan vans to a fire prevention and security company. The Lancashire-based automotive dealer group said seeing the Townstars and Primastars out and about adorned with the Black Box Group livery was great and it hoped that the partnership would continue for many more years.
