Yasunao Tone — a multidisciplinary music visionary whose ideas echo throughout modern electronic music — has died at the age of 90. No cause of death has been disclosed at the time of writing. According to an Instagram post by Artists Space, Tone passed away on Monday, May 12. The New York Times reports that the nonprofit, which organized a 2023 retrospective of his career called Region of Paramedia, later confirmed that he passed away in a New York hospital.

This past weekend, Italy’s dance music community mourned a bitter loss as techno DJ, producer, and live performer Manuel Fogliata has passed away at the age of 45. No cause of death has been given at the time of writing. Donato Dozzy, another Italian artist who focuses on a similar range of the techno spectrum, shared the news in an Instagram post. “I’m saddened to announce that my friend Manuel Fogliata fka Nuel has died,” he wrote.

Yesterday, Inglewood, California festival HARD Summer announced its 2025 lineup. But organizers had to update it shortly thereafter as Deborah De Luca will no longer perform there following a dispute over the font size used to display her name on the lineup graphic. In a now deleted comment thread on HARD’s Instagram post, a fan noted De Luca’s absence on the most recent lineup graphic. “The artist informed us she will no longer be playing the festival,” wrote the HARD account in a reply.

A Glasgow high court has sentenced two men to a combined ten years in prison for a brutal attack at the 2023 edition of Rewind Festival at Scone Palace in Perthshire, Scotland that severely injured a university lecturer. In his sentencing, Lord Renucci KC found that Patrick Kerr, 33, and Simon Tierney, 38, physically engaged Antonio Grant, 53, in July 2023.
