So, curious as I am, I decided to try my hand at testing cheap home products from the popular discount marketplace, AliExpress.

    Unlike most consumer tech and small appliances, which are easy to test in at home, large appliances like dishwashers have logistical hurdles that make hands-on testing much more difficult. The plumbing and electricity needs alone require special accommodations, not to mention the expense of shipping and storing bulky appliances. Because of this, I'm focusing on a research and data-heavy approach.

    There's nothing more annoying than crawling into my cozy bed, turning off my smart lights and seeing a faint glow on the wall of what should be a pitch-black bedroom. The culprit is almost always some new device I'm testing out with an LED indicator light that shines brighter than a full moon. Whenever this happens, I trudge to the toolbox, grab my trusty roll of electrical tape and cut off a piece to haphazardly stick over the offending LED, sometimes two if it's especially bright.
