    Texas A&M officially hired Mike Elko on Monday, Nov. 27, to fill the head football coach position after firing Jimbo Fisher. Current students shared their opinions on the Fisher firing, Elko hiring and the future of Aggie football. A&M decided to part ways with Fisher following a discussion between A&M Athletic Director Ross Bjork and Interim President Mark A. Welsh III. Civil engineering senior Ben Walford said he was originally shocked hearing the news but thought it was the right decision.

    There is only one collegiate cavalry in the nation and its reign belongs to Texas A&M. This semester, the Corps of Cadets horse-mounted unit, Parsons Mounted Cavalry, celebrates its 50th anniversary. To celebrate the golden anniversary, the cavalry held a tour of Fiddler’s Green, a 50-acre property where Parsons Mounted Cavalry keeps its 73 horses and seven mules, in October.

    A quarter of a century ago, tragedy struck campus after the 1999 annual Bonfire collapsed and killed 12 students. Two former Battalion staff members discussed their experience covering the tragic event and how the Aggie community came together after the collapse. On Nov. 18, at 2:42 a.m., the Bonfire stack collapsed.
