Dozens of demonstrators marched in the rain Sunday to protest the New Brunswick government’s decision to eliminate sidewalks on Miramichi’s iconic Centennial Bridge. The steel bridge with its famous high arch connecting Douglastown to Chatham on either side of the Miramichi River in eastern New Brunswick has had raised sidewalks on the outside of two lanes of traffic since it opened in 1967.
