A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed by MultiChoice Nigeria, the parent company of DStv and GOtv, challenging the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) intervention in its recent subscription price hike. Justice James Omotoso on Thursday ruled that the suit constituted an abuse of court process as similar proceedings were already pending elsewhere.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has said the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission’s (FCCPC) does not have the power to suspend or fix the prices of subcription prices of MultiChoice Nigeria, the parent company of DStv and GOtv. The court presided by Justice James Omotoso however dismissed a suit by MultiChoice against the FCCPC’s move to challenge the subscription price hike, as similar proceedings were already pending elsewhere.

A Federal High Court in Abuja has admitted in evidence videos of alleged inflammatory statements against the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu. At the resumed trial on the seven-count charges of terrorism against Kanu, Justice James Omotosho admitted a flash drive, a letter dated June 17, 2021, authored by the former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and a certificate of compliance.

A witness has told a Federal High Court in Abuja that the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, admitted operating an illegal radio station and inciting members of the public to attack police officers. The second witness, an official of the Department of State Services (DSS), identified with the acronym BBB in line with the court's shielding of witnesses' identities, said Kanu also founded the Eastern Security Network (ESN), an armed wing of the IPOB.
