INTRODUCTION Concern about the widespread declines of insects (Wagner, 2020) has received heightened attention due to documented decreases in the abundance and richness of pollinators, including bees (Bartomeus et al., 2013; Goulson et al., 2008; Semmens et al., 2016; Habel et al., 2019). Local phenom Miriam K. Smith has another exciting release! This time it’s an EP release of Zoltan Kodaly’s solo cello sonata. We’ve been impressed and following Miriam for several years now and are happy to share her music making on WGUC. The latest from Anne-Sophie Mutter shines on her hand-picked ensemble Mutter Virtuosi. It spans hundreds of years of music from Bach & Vivaldi to contemporary composers like John Williams and Andre Previn. Mutter shares the spotlight with rising violinists in multi-soloist works like Vivaldi as well as chamber works by Bach and Previn. But Mutter shines with her own virtuosity in concertos by Bologne, and Bach, plus showpieces by Williams.
