It is a staple part of many people's diets, but one Cambridgeshire farmer said he had been left with tonnes of potatoes that no-one seemed to want. Luke Ablett, 36, runs a 400-acre Cambridgeshire County Council-owned farm in Ramsey St Mary and said he had never known a year like it, with the market "grinding to a halt". Mr Ablett said it was common for growers to hold back on stocks of potatoes from last season's crop, but it was the first time he had more than 13 tonnes unsold.

An unusual mode of transport has been turning heads after it was restored to its "former glory". Mark Robinson from Littleport in Cambridgeshire said he had spent the last few years restoring a tiny, electrically powered tricycle-like vehicle. The Sinclair C5 was invented by British entrepreneur Clive Sinclair in 1985 and has a pedal-assisted electric motor.

A retired Royal Air Force flight sergeant who has just turned 100 years old puts his longevity down to one thing - cycling. Geoffrey Bolton, who was born on 21 May 1925, still cycles on an indoor exercise bike and clocks up 10 miles (6 km) a day at his home in St Ives, Cambridgeshire. Mr Bolton joined the RAF when he was 16 and went on to be awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) for his efforts in helping develop the Harrier jump jet as part of the technical team.
