Earlier this year, Six Flags America in Prince George’s County, Maryland, announced it was closing for good, and the company vowed that it would market the 500-acre site for redevelopment in the future. Usually, when that happens, the future takes a long time to arrive. In 2007, an amusement park in the town of Aurora, Ohio, shut down; and in 2016, a nearby lakefront water park considered to be in the boundaries of an adjacent town closed as well.

Thousands of people are gathering at the Washington Convention Center in Downtown D.C. this week for the second annual AI+ Expo. Companies, colleges, the military and other government agencies have all set up shop. State governments have shown up too, hoping to lure tech firms into relocating.

A week after a double homicide left two Israeli Embassy staffers dead in Downtown D.C., the Capital Jewish Museum has reopened its doors. Outside the museum, lots of flowers, pictures and other items have been left behind to honor Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim. Inside, there were more pictures of the young couple who were expected to get engaged this week.

Touting big declines in crime so far in 2025, Prince George’s County Police announced their looming summer crime initiative as the school year winds down and crime tends to tick up. “Our summer crime initiative is built upon the pillars of crime prevention, community engagement, collaboration with our public safety partners and a focused enforcement,” Police Chief Malik Aziz said. This year, Aziz said they’ll be focusing on smaller parts of the county.
