A 43-year-old man has been charged in connection with a child luring and exploitation investigation. On March 18, officers from the Barrie Police Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit searched a Barrie residence after receiving a report from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. The report concerned a 16-year-old girl allegedly being lured by a man, 43, via Instagram.

On March 11, officers from the Nottawasaga OPP along with members of the Essa Fire Department responded to a structure fire in Essa Township. When crews arrived on scene, a shed was fully engulfed. There were no injuries. The fire did not spread to the nearby homes. The cause of the fire appears to be a generator that was producing power to a mobile home. Two men face charges in connection with an incident at the LCBO in Thornbury. OPP officers responded to a shoplifting call on March 2. According to police, two men allegedly left the store in a stolen vehicle with about $800 in stolen scotch. Officers in Collingwood spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it, but the vehicle sped off and violated the right-of-way at several intersections. Officers located the vehicle at a ski lodge and searched for the suspects on foot.

While the registered voters of Ontario gave the PC Party a strong majority government, the students of Ontario went in a different direction. According to Civix, an organization that oversees student votes in schools across Ontario, more than 250,000 votes were cast in high schools and elementary schools across the province and while the PC Party did win, they only won 51 seats as opposed to the 80 in the general election. The PC Party received 24.14 per cent of the vote.

On Feb. 18, a 48-year-old Etobicoke man was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in a fatal crash on Sept. 22, 2020. On that day, officers from the Nottawasaga OPP detachment found a commercial vehicle in a ditch. The vehicle was travelling north on Townline Road in New Tecumseth when the driver lost control and collided with a tree. The driver succumbed to his injuries.
